Studio 7 mobile app case study.

When a client wants to bring their vision to life through an app, the way you design that app can make all the difference.

Thorough research drives great ideas, which fuel innovative design.

For Studio 7 Art Gallery, the goal was to create an app that was not only visually appealing but also intuitive for users. The app needed to allow customers to effortlessly browse, find the artwork and information they were looking for, and make bookings to visit the gallery. As the content is naturally bold, the layout and navigation was kept clean and minimalist. This ensured that the art took centre stage and navigation remained seamless.

1. The brief.

It all starts with the project brief, supplied by the client - in the case Google's UX Design Course.
2. Target Audience.

User profiles were created from sample user bios. These helped understand the target user, and encouraged empathy with the user from the designers.
3. Research.

Research, including competitive audits, gave valuable insights into the sort of content, structure, and flows that would need to be considered for the app design.
4. Initial sketches.

After collating research data, several hand drawn wireframes were created for each page in the main user flow. The best elements were selected for the final sketch, ready to be converted into digital wireframes.
5. Wireframes.

The digital wireframe pages were created in Figma, then linked together ready for initial user testing.
6. Usability Study.

After the wireframes were ready, a usability study was conducted to gather feedback on the users experience with the app. From this research, changes were made to the designs.
7. Hi- fidelity Mock-up & Prototype

Next, a high-fidelity mock-up was designed for each page using placeholder text and images. These were then linked together using the navigation buttons, to create a working prototype.
8. Lessons Learned.

This was my first project so I learned a lot about the importance of initial research, gathering feedback via usability studies, how to create ideas, and spent many hours learning how to use the design software - Figma.
